This is the first major speed trap of the year where there is no warnings if caught. They speed trap throughout the day after their first speed trap after break up where there is up to 10 officers involved in the spring traps.

Comment (5/2003): The reason for the speed traps are to get drivers to slow down therefore reducing the number of fatality accidents on the Glenn Highway. If we do not enforce the speed laws many more people will DIE. This is not speculation but an observation from an experienced Anchorage Police Officer. Happy Motoring.

Comment (6/2003): Yea yea, fact is this is easy pickins. A long downhill stretch where nearly everyone is over 65 and the cops can fill their quotas. SLOW DOWN OR DIE! Right.

Comment (7/2003): There ARE no quotas at the Anchorage Police Department. The areas that are repeatedly used by officers to enforce traffic law are used because motorists aren't following traffic law, not because it's "easy".

Comment (9/2003): true...the traps are a reminder tool, I'm just fortunate I spot them before they spot me....unlike other States, there is no quota here

Comment (9/2003): Slow down or die? Give me a break. Yes, there are places that are dangerous at any speed, but this just plain ain't one of them.

Comment (9/2003): Apparently, word on the street is that there is now a "minimum performance standard" that Anchorage police officers must meet and it amounts to four tickets written per officer per day. Say good bye to the Wild Wild West!

Comment (9/2003): It is duley noted that the anchorage police and state troopers in alaska must meet their daily/monthly quota's in order to be able to keep and use their cars on and off duty. without yer monthly/daily ticket quota's being met u will be without a free police cruiser to use on state's and taxpayers money and time.

Comment (3/2004): People comeing to Alaska this year should be aware that there will be no mercy on tickets. The city and state need the money and traffic fines to help cover some of the cost. Hell lets be truthful about it. People should be aware visiting this year

Comment (4/2004): this has got to be one of the most effective speed traps in e.r./chugiak area. there is someone almost always there during the summer. usually sit on the bridge. i have seen a cop sitting at the very top of outbound onramp: nice clean view of all lanes and part of the turn. ALWAYS do no more than 68-69 MAX before going into the turns before the bridge either direction.

cop usually watching inbound traffic during morning rush, and at night (seen at night mostly on sundays watching people returning from camping...)ive never been caught by this one or seen anyone else caught. im not sure if they really do anything or just to be intimidating. not sure of radar type, but it should be safe to assume radar and laser.
