This is a well known Arkansas speed trap. Cammack Village is a very odd little city to itself which is completely surrounded by Little Rock. They have two patrol cars, and you tend to see at least one of them out any time you pass through this town. Officers tend to hide in private driveways, especially on University and Greenwood Streets at night.

Comment (2/2005): Yes. Watch yourself going through this little berg. The "police" there have one job: give people tickets. Kind of like state troopers.

Comment (6/2005): This is absolutely true. When I moved to Little Rock, it was one of the first things I was warned about.

Comment (6/2005): Cammack writes tickets for everything, not just speeding. They are grossly unfair. Some people have remained intentionally stopped at a stop sign for more than a minute because they know they are being watched and still get ticketed for running a stop sign. This town is after revenue by hook or by crook. Fairness and safety are not what it's about. I'm glad I don't live there anymore. A friend of mine now drives through there often and gets pulled over often, even when she hasn't done anything wrong.

Comment (6/2006): As a life long resident of Little Rock and a police officer in the city of cammack village , i disagree with comments listed above. The reputation of far worse than reality . ON average we write 7 warning to each citation we issue . So we write many more warnings than citations. If you got a ticket in Cammack, you deserved it. ENFORCEMENT is strict , but that is how we discover other crimes. Drugs, wanted persons etc. Just today,i arrested a guy after stopping him for a defective brake light. He was wanted for raping a 12 year old boy. The revenue generated by citations isnt enough to pay the salary of one officer. And as required by law, two third of the revenue goes to the state of Arkansas. So go find a TRUE speed trap. Keep searching guys , they are out there . Just not here.

Comment (7/2006): They have been known to do all the above. One question: Why hasn't this "town" been annexed by the city of Little Rock and the whole problem solved? It would be more cost effective.
