I have seen unmarked police cruisers pull over several cars in the late evening and early morning hours in Cameron. The officers who patrol this area are either Navajo Tribal Police, Navajo Rangers or Arizona Highway Patrol. The unmarked cruisers are white Chevy Sport Utility Vehicles with hidden emergency lights, usually there is three of them patrolling together which are used by the Navajo Tribal Police. The speed limit on highway 89 is 65 mph and drops down to 50 mph as you drive through Cameron. There is two Navajo Tribal Rangers who drive slick top Chevy Crew Cab trucks. The Arizona DPS and Rangers usually patrol during the daytime hours and the Navajo Police during the late evening and early morning hours.
Comment (1/2006): There is a DPS officer based in Gray Mountain, which is about 6 miles sout of Cameron on US 89. I have seen them on numerous occasions running radar between Cameron and Gray Mountain. Very rarely are they stationary
