Many tourists and wine country visitors have to travel along the Hwy 29 corridor through American Canyon to enter the Napa Valley. Traveling North on 29 the Napa County Sheriff’s Vehicles patrol the road constantly. They make a loop on this 2.5 mile stretch of road and seem to be ‘out and about’ in force towards the middle of the month and especially weekends. NCS are contracted out to the city of American Canyon. They drive white crown victorias. Traveling south on Hwy 29 ‘NCS’ park on the downhill side <hidden> of an overpass and nail you as you are coming down the incline. Do not go wine tasting and drive through this area! Get a designated driver! IF you even smell like alcohol, expect to spend time @ the lovely Napa County Jail. I have been informed that on the weekends the NCS stop ANY car that looks like a visiting tourist for any reason that they can get away with legally, such as out-of-order taillights, registration tags, unsafe lane change. DUI’s are a <gold mine> for the county revenues. p.s. These guys <NCS> are real jerks.
Comment (6/2005): The known slogan for the Napa Valley is, "go to Napa on vacation, leave on probation". There are many DUI's in this county due to wine tasting.
