Comment (7/2002): I live in that neighborhood, and I'm glad the police dept. have set up speed traps. That is a residential area with lots of pedestrians...both elderly and of school age. Thank you APD!!

Comment (04/2008): More often now it\'s a patrol car on Silverado (the one near Contra Loma) watching that traffic coming down the hill on James Donlan. He\'s mostly there in the afternoon and early evening. I\'m glad that the police are watching. While 35 seems awfully slow for the street, too many people are going closer to 50.

Motorcycle officer sits at or before Twin Creeks Apartment complex, before intersection of Contra Loma and James Donlan Rd. Speed limit is 35 mph, but slight decent before apartments on James Donlan makes 40+ easily attainable if unchecked.

Going in the morning rush hour you are sure to see the Antioch motorcycle cop up and down James Donlon. In the morning hours he hides out over the hill in neighbohood entrances towards the end of James Donlon entering Sommersville, gets people all the time. It is the highest rated traffic ticket issuance in the the city of Antioch.

Lone Tree Blvd is the Hwy 4 bypass that goes thru Antioch, CA. and Brentwood. The last few blocks of Lone Tree near Sutter Hospital (Antioch) have varying speed limits that are used to catch you speeding. The consistent speed limit is listed at 45mph for 95% of this street, toward the end you have 6 blocks listed at 35mph and the last 4 at 30mph. The officers sit in driveways shortly after the speed limit change and nail you if you don't immediately spot the change. They caught me and I had not realized what had happened as I was going with the flow of traffic. I have paid attention to this and have realized that they are more active in the morning and towards the end of the month.

As you come down the hill heading East on Buchannon Rd., just past San Jose Drive and all the way to Contra Loma Blvd, officers park just inside the corners of the side streets on your right. Tickets are given for anything over 35 mph. The posted limit is 30 mph. It's very easy to gain speed down the hill and reach 40 mph.
