I drive the 118 stretch between Kuehner and Balboa every morning sometime between 6:30 and 7:30am. Anytime after 7:00am, there is usually a CHP with someone pulled over somewhere between Porter Ranch and Reseda offramps. They watch the lights on the offramps and the carpool lanes (offramps and freeways). I have to teach school before 8:00am, so I dont' have time to deal with the accidents and lookie-loos. Leave early, and don't pay the $270 fine.

Comment (8/2005): I have seen the same. I usually roll through going west at about 7:00 am.I usually see one CHP with a car stopped. BUT, If I am running a little late,at like say 7:10, there are usually no less than 2 CHP wwith pull overs. If you leave a little late, arrive a little late !

Comment (1/2006): When you proceed westbound on the 118 and are exiting at DeSoto there is a stop sign at the bottom of the exit. Just to the right of the exit is a small frontage road which sits higher than the exit. I've seen either the CHP or LAPD sitting there waiting for the typical "California roll stop". Be careful!

Comment (6/2006): I concur with the this. I know because I was a victim. Speeding ticket for going 80 on 118 east after I passed Desoto. I was listening to music not paying attention to my speed and if you drive it, it's a wide open downhill area. I have seen plenty of other witht he same fate. I drive it 5 days a week at 7:00 - 7:15 am

Comment (02/2007): As you go south on DeSoto from the 118, there is an unpaved street for a construction site on the east side of DeSoto. They\'ll be hanging out right on that street waiting for speeders.
