Colorado State Hwy 160 runs through downtown Alamosa. The Alamosa city police park around the Safeway grocery store and stop anyone going over just a few MPH over the speed limit. The Colorado State Patrol also take part in these traps along side the city police. You can see how many tickets are written by reading the local newspaper. They not only target the local population, but especially out of state tags.

Comment (8/2006): I did not know the city police did anything. I never see them making traffic stops.

Comment (10/2006): The Alamosa City Police Department gets a good portion of it's revenue from speeding tickets. Read the local paper and you will see how many motorists are ticketed every day.
