East side of the highway, South of the stop light targeting traffic going north. Or, in the central median South of the light targeting traffic going south. Limit sign when going north drops the limit from 65 to 50 half a mile from the stop lights, there is another sign 1/4 mile from the light. People are usually still cruising at 65-70 as they reach the second sign and the cops are just looking for the first person in the line. People are usually moving into the left lane here because there are ALWAYS semis stopped at the light in the right lane. DO NOT pass on the right on the curve as you head north or you WILL get nailed. As for heading south on 85, DO NOT speed up to make it through the light. It's difficult to see the police cruiser parked in the dip of the median and you won't know he's there until you've already shot through.
