it is a school zone - they monitor it 1/2 hour before school is out and they give $200 tickets, i just got one. the school was 3 blocks from there and school wasn't out yet, but the light was on and i got a $200 ticket for going 39 in a 45 (20mph school zone)
Comment (7/2002): I live right near there on 113th. They set-up twice a day. Once for the kindergarten kids who get out of school around noon and once again from 2:30pm-4:00 pm. It's actually Westminster who patrols there. The tickets are a mandatory court appearance as well.
Comment (7/2002): Westy cops do a lot of BS traps but I do agree with aggresive school and neighboorhood enforcement.
Comment (10/2002): A friend was ticketed in this trap, but in retrospect he believes that the school lights weren't flashing. Here is his theory supported by the traffic engineer in Westminster. There are actually two school zones in the area, one on 112th and one on Harlan (not sure of the street name, but it is the cross street with the school on it). These two school zones are independent, that is, they do not go on and off at the same time. My friend believes that the officer saw the school zone lights flashing on Harlan and assumed that they were also flashing on 112th. The officer was facing South on Harlan which supports the theory that he had seen the school zone lights on Harlan only. If you can prove this, you might beat the ticket. My friend pleaded innocent and lost, but put this theory together after the case. Good luck!

Southbound I-25 heading into the highway 7 exit, motorcycle cops will sit behind the highway barriers and snipe since the speed limit goes from 75 to 65 because the city needs more money. Also, state patrol/camaro undercover highway patrol have been known to sit on the onramp southbound to snipe.

The speed limit on west Midway Boulevard used to be 40mph, which was safe and reasonable for the amount of traffic through this industrial area where the street is extremely wide and has a center turn lane. In 1999 or 2000 they dropped the speed limit to 30mph and started setting a speed trap in a parking lot on the south side of the street west of Burbank Street. Most people drive 35mph to 40mph on this road. Sometimes they have a police cruiser here, and sometimes it is a photo radar trailer (the kind that shows your speed on an electronic sign on top). There are long periods when there is no trap, but that's usually when they suddenly set the photo radar trailer out. They also use the photo radar trailer on Hoyt next to Richard S. Steel Park for northbound or Geneva Pharmaceuticals for southbound vehicles where the speed limit is an even more unreasonable 25mph well over 1000 feet before it becomes a residential area.

Good luck!

This is a deliberate and obscene trap using three unmaked cars without government plates. One is White, one is Tan, and the Third is Light Blue. I have seen any of the three on both sides of the road at all times of the day. They seem to grab whomever is going the fastest, but I have seen them just randomly pull someone over. There are no distiguishing signs of the car that tell you it is a police car until they pull you over.

Cops will set up across the street from the 7 eleven in a small finced area. At night they sit there with their lights off and are hard to see.

Due to lane widening on this section of Sheridan, the Broomfield PD has been setting up several speed traps along this section. They sit in the construction sites on the west side of the road. The speed limit is a double-fine zone set at 25mph. It feels waaaay too slow.
Good luck!
