Officer hides in the median after the concrete partition in the freeway ends. The partition is high enough to block out the warning flashes form south bound travelers. It also blocks out the drivers view of the end of the barrier because of the curve and the height. Drivers will not get a warning(non-Valentine) begause the radar is perpendicular to the freeway. The warning only comes on when you are on top of him.

They often wait on the shoulder of the onramp to I-25 from circle have the radar painting the far end of the ramp. Drivers can not see the oncoming traffic from circle so the cruiser/bikes are hidden well. Often drivers are caught doing 75+ in the 65 zone.

Colorado Springs PD motorcycle units will sit just east of the bridge over Monument Creek. Eastbound, they are in a driveway on the right, going up the hill towards Cascade (I think it's an access road for Colorado College buildings). Westbound, they are in the last residential driveway before the bridge. With the hill there, they are hard to see before they nail you. Prevailing speeds are 40-ish, but the limit is 30. I live a couple of blocks from this trap, see them regularly, and hear them at night, pulling drivers over. I have seen as many as 4 units working both sides of the street.

Posted speed limit is 45 MPH, and if you don't immediately start slowing down when exiting the interstate (I-25) you'll never make it before thr trap. I umpire at the softball complex across from the trap and hear as many as 6-7 per night getting pulled over by the motocycle cop.

Like many cities, Colorado Springs has experienced a decline in normal revenue sources. Rather than reducing the budget, the city council and management have discovered that by investing in more police officers, motorcycles and speed detectors, and by lowering speed limits throughout the city, the recession can be turned into a revenue enhancement bonanza; ostensibly in the name of safety. Many six lane arteries are posted at 25 MPH. If you are a visitor, try to creep through Colorado Springs so that you don't become part of the tax base; it's no longer a driver friendly village.

Motorcycle officers will park in the shadow of various overpass/bridges along the I25 Corridor through the city and shoot radar. (they especially like sitting under the Bijou St. overpass, as there's curves that tend to keep drivers attention on the roadway, and not whats around them) I've seen patrol cars park under the bridge in the past, but motorcycles are much less conspicuous. Other officers will sometimes be waiting out of sight on the on ramps so the RADAR officer can radio ahead for vehicles to be stopped. As with any overpass, be alert and keep with the pace of traffic -- don't be the leader of the pack.

The section of Rockrimmon from I-25 to Vindictor and continuing on to Centennial is being blanketed by Motorcycle Radar cops. The are quite leterally hiding behind bushes and fences. On December 29 they were literally blanketing the area during all daylight hours. They are shooting radar almost exclusively on downhill grades in 30 and 35MPH zones. They catch most people after they turn from either Centennial (40MPH zone)onto vindicator (35MPH Zone downhill grade) or from Rockrimmon downhill grade just before the safeway center at Vindicator. Everyone should drive 10MPH below the speed limit in these areas to get the message back to them that we know what they are doing. According to one of the officers I talked with it is all aobut the revenue. He said all you have to do is show up in traffice court and your points will be reduced to half of the original amount and pay the full amount of the ticket and you are on your way. He told me that the city is doing this to calm the residents rage over the speed traps.

The speed limit on Briargate Blvd. is unrealistically low (35 mph). Police use patrol cars, unmarked cars and motorcycles, which they park on a side street to monitor traffic with a radar gun. There is a long east-to-west hill in which it is easy to exceed the posted speed limit by just coasting.

Motorcycle cops just waiting for you to go through the red light at possibly the Springs most congested intersection. They're looking for you to blow it going west on Austin Bluffs or turning south onto Union in the AM.

2 motorcycle cops work Research Parkway and Austin Bluffs, through to Powers, most often westbound. Watch out because they try to nail you coming down the 45-mph marked Research Parkway at the bottom of a large hill, where gravity will be making your car go >45 mph. They work in pairs and hide on the small side streets, with radar guns. Again, Westbound on Research near Rangewood to Austin Bluffs, watch out for 2 motorcycle cops.

Motor cycle officers hide on the west side of Valley Hi at Chelton and use a radar gun for traffic going north and south on Chelton. They are always at this location especially towards the end of the month, they use patrol cars and motor cycle officers at this location.

Periodically the speed limit signs are moved from 40 MPH to 35 MPH and the cars sit in the small shopping mall and radio violations to motorcycles. Speed limit signs are not posted often enough for persons turning from Holland Park to see what the limit is.

Flying W Ranch is a very windy, hilly road. Cops are hiding out very frequently on the side streets on the downhill slopes of Flying W Ranch. There are cops constantly in the school zone around Chipeta Elementary in Mountain Shadows area. Watch out! They are not visible until too late. Its very difficult to go from 35 mph to 20 mph in 200 ft, when going down a fairly sloped hill!

Fillmore just east of 30th. Fillmore goes downhill and the speedlimit drops to 30mph. Because it's downhill it's very easy to go above the speed limit and cops hide in an apartment complex parking lot that is blocked by bushes.
