Police are more than happy to pull you over even if you are going 65 mph (10 miles over the speed limit). This road has no traffic and many people like to speed up to 80 mph on it. The highway patrol likes to hide and then come and get the speeders. You can't see them coming because the road is curvy.
Comment (11/2002): I ride this road a lot. I've found that the cops sit in a driveway on the north side when you are near the wind research lab. If you go another half mile east, they sit on top of hill (either side). Watch out for them because in this location you wont see them unless you are looking, and this is a fabulous road to speed on. They use either lazer or radar.

Going northeast, after Lookout, there is an incline where I see cars pulled over frequently. Be very careful at night, where you cannot see well. I to a ticket there once at night. Going southwest, there are frequent speed traps. A police car was parked between the two lanes in the middle before Lookout pointing his speed gun against traffic - last Sunday morning at 9:50 am. That was State Patrol. Cars usually go faster than the 55 mph speed limit. Some police cars now have a lovwer profile light bars on the roof and I have seen civil cop cars (no external markings, dark grey cars) pulling people out.

Cops like to sit at the Park-and-Ride tucked in among other cars. Heading north, remember that the speed limit does not go from 55mph to 65mph until after the Park-and-Ride. Heading south, when that limit drops to 55mph, you better drop too. You can speed up again past the Niwot Road light.

As you come west on Lookout Road, going downhill from 79th Street, the speed limit drops way down suddenly and the cops love to sit at the bottom of the hill at 75th Street nailing people. Likewise, most people go 45 or above once they're past 75th, but the speed limit is 35, dropping to 30. The cops love to sit in driveways along that stretch catching people.

Drivers coming up Boulder Canyon from Boulder headed to the Eldora ski area should always beware of the downhill stretch of road heading into Nederland. The posted speed goes from 45 to 35 and then 25, and they mean it. Sometimes an unmarked car is used. Leaving Nederland is just as risky, don't speed up until you are past the side road to the post office. The road leading past the High School is also a risk. Don't let 'em ruin your day of skiing - slow down and watch out.

Colorado State Patrol has been stepping up enforcement of Isabelle Rd. just east of US 287. The officer uses a totally unmarked grey pick up truck (you can't even see the lights in the windows) with a steel tool box in the back of the cab. The speed limit on Isabelle goes from 35 mph to 25 mph as you cross two narrow bridges. This is where they get you! The same CSP truck has been picking up speeders along US 287 as well.
