For the past few weeks there have been four to six cars lined up pulling over everyone in sight. Speed limit drops from 65 to 55 AFTER the intersection, so go figure. This ticket mill is amazingly efficient; one officer stands ahead of the pack and points to drivers, waving them over to the state police giving tickets. Note: Once over the last few weeks (since the weather got nice) I have seen two staties doing the same routine on the other (Southbound) side.

Comment (6/2003): My comments refer to the drive from the Mass Pike to Hartford so they may be misplaced here, sorry.

Comment (6/2003): Enforcement here, north and south bound has been very thorough for years. CT will also use le traps, a second trap will be set up a mile or so after the first trap to catch those who have let down their guard and their foot. Several years ago I saw a triple trap but I have not seen this in a long time. The police use unmarked Camaros as chase cars. These are very new with some hot option, I believe Vette engines. In any case, if you see the Camaro and you are speeding it's too late. I put the van on cruise at 64. I drove that stretch to commute for several years. If you have a big rig it is very windy there, be careful of cross winds at a right angle to the road at the hilltops.

Comment (2/2004): strongly agree. the whole berlin turnpike is like this. and be aware of DUI traps, they are just like speed traps, only enforced stronger.

Comment (11/2003): The State Police is very close - this is a training area so you may be able to beat these from poor testimony or chain of custody issues. Officers do not want to go very far from a warm and dry office - speed limit also drops to 55 for about 2 miles around the 691/CT15/91 interchange.
