The Avon police sit on the bottom of Avon hill panning the area with Laser rader from the hotel parking lot on the opposite side of the road. The trap is on the Avon side when heading west on 44 just at the base of the hill. The speed limit is 40MPH but just coasting you'll do over 65 on the hill so be careful.

Comment (3/2006): This is true. The hill is fairly steep and a recent 19 car pileup with 4 deaths due to a runaway truck that lost its brakes is the main reason for the somewhat excessive patrolling on the mountain.

Comment (1/2006): Ever since the dump truck accident this summer, the speeds in this area have been very heavily enforced. The West Hartford boys also watch this hill closely on the other side of the mountain and across from the resevoir.

Comment (12/2006): Avon Police also often sit at Wright Drive, which is the flashing light 1/2 mile up the hill.
