Beware of going over 25mph on the Calvert St. bridge just east of Connecticut Ave in Woodley Park. Occasionally the DC cops have speed traps on either end of it. I haven't been caught but live on one side of the bridge and see the speed trap when I walk across it. Also beware the Connecticut Ave. bridge at the same intersection; I've been in a cab that was pulled over there. Finally, sometimes Calvert St. bridge westbound is checkpointed for DUI on a Fri or Sat night. Even if you're not drunk it's a huge slowdown and obnoxious so beware.

Comment (11/2004): Watch Connecticut Ave southbound on the Taft Bridge. Speed limit is 25. Cop sits by Chinese Embassy at the south end of the bridge, but you don't see him until he has already locked and is waving you over. Saw him nail a limo today. He seems to like midmorning.
