Got nailed on an early Sunday morning going eastbound on NY Avenue (600 block). The clues are the series of perpendicular lines paited in the camera target zone. Slow down to the 35 mph speed limit just before this and you are fine. OR, according to the ticket, if more than one car is in the picture frame zone, they will not issue a ticket, so just follow the car in front of you (even if speeding) and you are fine as well. No points, just a fine.

Comment (8/2006): I'm in my mid-forties and never have received a speeding ticket. In fact, I have never even received a warning. (I did run out of coins parking once and had to pay a fine.) The 600 block of New York Ave in DC is truly what a speed trap is. A three (3!) lane road on a sunny day and the limit is 35!?? It seems these traps are part of the Mayor's "Shakedown Coalition." Crime certainly is a big problem in DC, but this sort of automatic speed trapping on large roads is an injustice. The date was July of 2006. Watch out for lines on road. These traps are unmarked in the 395--New York area as far as I can tell. I feel I'm the victim of crime myself actually. DC certainly is an area of big government with lapse enforcement on real crime and reliance on speed traps for city funds. They only take a picture if there is one car in the area, meaning that the road is open and that it's natural to drive faster than 35 mph. There's something very wrong with this.
