I was amazed when I came to this site that this was not already here. It is notorious for people who travel from Baltimore/Washington to the MD & DE beaches. Speed limit signs change quickly from 55, 45, 35 to 25 mph. If you go one mile over the 25 mph limit in town you are almost guaranteed a ticket.

Comment (4/2003): There is a Rt. 404 bypass now so you will not have to go through Brigdeville, use it, it's safer

Comment (11/2003): Thank god Bridgeville has a bypass now so you will not have to go through the town of Bridgeville DL, all I worry about is were, is the town going to get there revenue to run the town. The town was a speed trap town for many years. So many tourists coming to Ocean City & Rehoboth from Washington have paid there share of fines to pay for the town, coming throw that town with there speed traps was disasters.

Comment (6/2004): this town was the only place i ever got two tickets in and it was a setup i never ran a red light and the clown cop was sitting way down behind a store and couldn't see the light if he wanted so its a setup stay clear of this creepy place

Comment (8/2004): These cops also hide in bushes and behind buildings to stake out R.t 13 looking for anyone (except locals)to generate a little revenue. These local yokel cops think they are all high-tech with about a million antennas and lights and radar stuff hanging from their cars, but in reality, they are out for the money. Don't expect a break unless you have one of those little black DEL license plates that I guess are some kind of local status symbol. ALL of Delaware is creepy to me! A real Speed Trap State! which IS a small wonder.

Comment (11/2004): Got stopped at this speed trap for 51 in a 35 mph zone with a DE car on my MD rear. DE law says a vehicle must use reasonable prudence in slowing and stoppin ...but that was not given consideration. However, a witness, a Bridgeville local contractor, told me this about the cop, "That boy didn't use no radar", but he failed to appear in court. Appearance led to probation before judgement. Best bet is to ALWAYS plead not guilty and appear in the justice of the peace court.
