Officer in unmarked car on opposite corner of the crossroads. If you are stopped at the light, the next speed limit sign, just a few hundred yards ahead, is 65 mph. I was given a ticket for doing 65 in a 55 when I was less than 125 feet from the sign (I had accelerated, on CRUISE CONTROL, away from the light). I will be fighting this ticket, but since this is an area infamous for its speedtraps and dishonest courts, I don't pretend to think I'll win....

Comment (3/2006): Agree. This is one of the famous AAA designated speedtraps in Waldo. Be aware when you start seeing the Waldo Flea Market Signs. The cops like to hide in the parking lot of the Flea Market.

Comment (6/2006): This is probably too late for the original "post" but fight any and all tickets in/around Waldo, Lawtey, Hawthorne (Bradford Co.). They are a "designated speed trap" by AAA and you can fight the ticket via affadavit. It works, they ticketed me in Lawtey for speeding in a school zone (school was not in session)and I sent a letter, notarized to the judge directly, "CASE DISMISSED". Watch your speed all over 301 between Ocala and I-10 and beyond.

Comment (7/2006): Officer was hiding among other cars in the shopping center. When I asked him if he really enjoyed giving out the tickets, he replied, "better than sex".

Comment (12/2006): I too was ticketed by an officer in an un marked car at this location. I however saw him and made him before I got to the 45 MPH sign, and I Know for Fact I had reached 45 by the time I got to that sign because I look at my speedometer as I passed it too make sure. I was still ticketed for 61 in a 45. I will definately be fighting this one!
