Manatee S O officers on foot stand in bushes in the median with battery powered radar guns. When told to by management, they are agressive for a few days, they are nearly invisible and if you are passing someone on the slight hill, they may be at the bottom in the bushes. Too late!

BE CAREFUL OF SMALL CESSNAS HOVERING AROUND I-75 just south of ST. pete and north of Sarasota. This area is Bradenton in manatee county. There is a marker the cop in the plane sees you pass and times you till you reach another marker. (I heard they use big, white markers at the side of the road but I missed them)

Heading South on I-75 during mid-day or late-day rush hour, you will notice that as soon as you can see the exit sign that says St. Petersburg/Palmetto 2 miles where you can turn onto 275 south to get into Palmetto, you will see white markers that span the entire roadway. The markers are spread 1/4 mile apart so that the Sergeant (Gary Schluter) of the FHP can time how long it takes your vehicle to cross the distance between two markers and then translate it into your speed. You do not want to get caught by this guy because I went to court and there is really no way to beat this guy. He has his own airplane and helps to run speedtraps for 10 of Florida's counties. He has all of his equipment certified, ie his stopwatch and has been doing this for many years. He will signal an officer on the ground to intercept you and then give you the ticket. I got caught like two feet before my exit where the officer who came from the on-ramp to I-75 south stopped me. Also going north on I-75, you will shortly come upon the same markers in the northbound I-75 and be wary, I see them pull people over every day and radar detectors cannot help or warn you. They usually have a minimum of two cars and a maximum of 6 cars that I have seen working both directions at any given time of the day. BE CAREFUL! SLOW DOWN when you see the markers and then you can speed up afterwards, because you never know what days they are there! --JN

As you travel west bound on 63rd you cross the hump in the road which is 41. Right there usuallay in the cvs parking lot or the plaza they will hide out side there car in the bushes and flag you down. Almost always more than one cop doing the pulling over.

Usually between 63rd and whitfeild two unmarked crown vics (blue & red) will sit in the grassy area across from the church. They show up about 5 o clock and will pull over several cars at once. They are only there about once a month but still be careful.

Comment (02/2008): I witnessed this just a few days ago. Driving North on I-75 just before I-4 cutoff about 15 cars pulled over all in the same spot but there was no radar or laser being used there. Figured it was by air.

Comment (8/2003): Got caught 3 times here, in my first 3 years in the US. This avenue is too large to only go 30 mph.
