Speed trap is in the middle of a work zone. The speed limit goes from 75, to 65, to 50. Radar is on over-pass, with several units STANDING in road pulling over traffic. Three cars at a time. Due to the work zone, fine DOUBLES! Mine was $280.00 for 71 in a 50. I made the 4 hour drive down to fight it, and was able to get the fine reduced to $180.00. It appears Cook County sees this work zone, as a great source of revenue.
Comment (5/2006): I agree with the trap I work on the road construction in Lowndes Co. If yall would slow down it makes it safer for all of us working. The fines need to be no less than $500.00 for ten over. Slow down I love going home every day to my wife and kids.
Comment (7/2006): TRUE. They also use laser on the over-passes. Also, there were no construction workers present that day I got mine. Hey Cook county, forget the revenue and fight crime!
Comment (9/2006): I work in Cook County as an EMT and I get to see - up close up personal - the results of you guys speeding through these construction zones. You're not there but a few minutes maybe at the most. But we're dealing with wrecks out there on a daily basis. And no, it's not about the revenue, it's about the lives!
Comment (12/2006): Looks to me if you had of slowed down you wouldn't of been in that situation. hope the 4hr drive was worth it.
Comment (01/2008): yea these guys use this interstate as their cash cow, during the nite, no constuction and no traffic, still got a ticket 65 in 50, during the day trucks and other cars running 80 no one got tickets, was right behind truck when got stopped however cop never stopped trucks, said they are just making a living making deliveries.
Comment (04/2008): IT is a speed trap, believe it. 3 in the morning, and no traffic, no construction. It is all about revenue. Just look at all those new chargers south of macon. wonder what they are going to do if and when they complete the construction?
