This is a construction area where posted speed limits are 55mph. At any given time, traffic is easily in excess of 80mph or more. Alpharetta City Police are patrolling this area strongly. Officers will sit off to the side of the road down the ditch out of view of all commuters.
Comment (7/2002): Be careful late at night going north . I drove this route for years driving up to the lake from downtown. There's always a cop in dark blue, that's very hard to see in the ditch around Old Milton Pkwy. -good luck-
Comment (1/2003): In addition to the Old Milton location, I am now seeing cops parked under Haynes Bridge or in the ditch in the median that makes it difficult to see them. They love this spot from Thursday through Sunday after 10PM.
Comment (3/2003): I live near exit 10 (Old Milton), and travel northbound on 400 two or three times a week. Fulton County Police and Alpharetta City Police have ramped up the enforcement level. They now commonly park just south of Windward on the northbound side as well as just north of Windward on the southbound side. They are prevalent after dark and even moreso on weekend evenings.
Comment (4/2003): There are still there. I train a client off Windward Pkwy at 6:30 am and see them in the ditch on the right north bound. They are situated right in front of the gaurdrail. They are black or dark blue and you cannot see them!

Taylor Road attaches to Jones Bridge and is a one-way street leading to Chattahoochee High and Taylor Road Middle schools as well as several neighborhoods. The extreme traffic caused by a one way street to a school prevents speeding when school gets in and out but there is a window in which you can get a ticket. What do most kids do when they sleep in? They drive fast to school to avoid being late. Well, the same cop that directs traffic at the Jones Bridge \ Taylor Road intersection comes down to the bottom of the hill and catches students flying down the 25 MPH limit sign. You can't see them till you peak the hill and they already have you. Don't speed down that hill during school hours - especially 8:30 - 10:00 a.m.

Usually at least two motorcycle cops sit in a turn lane and check your speed as you come over a hill. When you get close they step out in the road and flag you over, write you a ticket and then send you away.

This road is a nice 4 lane near a Mall and a nice curbed median. It is unfortunately a 35 mph zone. This road should at the least be a 45 mph zone. What were they thinking?

Alpharetta Must have 1000 motorcycles and 2000 cars because you can not drive without seeing one of them. It usually has some guy in it who says he is with the traffic enforcement unit. Those guys are on a mission and they are hardcore. BEWARE the wrath of these guys.

This road appears to be a sleepy nice road of enchantment...Then DAMMIT. Under the shade tree out steps two motorcycle cops. This pair appears to be some modern day death squad. For real I passed these two in three different locations in a six hour period and each time the cars were lined up like a buffet line for them to appearently gete tickets.

Watch out for the black and white with no lights on it. Fear him, he had no facial expression and a monotone voice. It was like talking to your executioner.

Comment (4/2003): There are still there. I train a client off Windward Pkwy at 6:30 am and see them in the ditch on the right north bound. They are situated right in front of the gaurdrail. They are black or dark blue and you cannot see them!

In case people havent read the local paper. Watch out for Alharetta's finest. The chief has increased the traffic unit to include some ticket writing fools if the papers statistics are correct. These officers are always in the local papers and it appears that Alpharetta has placed a giant red bullseye on traffic offenders. Oh yes and DO NOT give those guys any attitude because from experience they dont tolerate it. Watch out.

I was stopped by an Alpharetta police officer for going 5 miles over the speed limit. The cop gave me a ticket. I asked for a warning but he insisted on giving me a ticket. Then they put off the court date for 6 months. They said there was a back log. Duh. I feel this is a speed trap town. When I called the traffic court to find out what I would have to pay they told me $149.What a rip off

Comment (4/2003): There are still there. I train a client off Windward Pkwy at 6:30 am and see them in the ditch on the right north bound. They are situated right in front of the gaurdrail. They are black or dark blue and you cannot see them!

It's a 45 mile per hour trip till you hit the hill toward the intersection. There's one 35 mph sign just prior to the top of the hill and they hit you with radar as soon as you top the hill. Your in a 35 doing 45 or more and they stop you at the intersection and write you up. They got me for 51 mph and I was just coasting down the hill to the stop.
