Sherrif's Dept cars line the depresed median between trees apparently planted for that purpose. Recently, the City of Ashburn announced that it would vigorously patrol its 1.6 mi of I75 as well. ie; the lock rattlers have joined the process servers & the GA State Patrol. Let this be a warning to FL bound spring-breakers, bike-weekers, etc. These fine officers aim to make Sure that you do not transgress the laws of the great state of GA, nor those of metropolitan Turner Co, nor the busy metropolis of Ashburn !

Comment (8/2002): There are no trees in the median in Turner County for deputies to hide behind. State law states you must be seen at 500 feet. Police will sit behind the bridge wall making it difficult to see them until you are right on top of them. It is unfortunate our great state has thought it necessary to allow city units onto our interstate in order to generate revenue. I got no problem with the county and state units operating as long as it is for the right reason but Ashburn's is for all the wrong reasons.

Comment (9/2002): Sounds like because of the comments being made about Turner County and Ashburn on the interstate, there are some people determined to break the laws no matter what the police or other law enforcement officals do. These people will NEVER LEARN! If the law is so wrong in these city and counties, and the Violators are so right, then why do they NEVER SHOW UP IN COURT, to correct this so called speed trap.

Comment (1/2003): I'll tell you what; My wife received a ticket in from a Turner County Sheriff in Aug. '02. We went to court to fight it, as the deputy decided to fabricate the rate of speed that we were travelling. We happened to round up no less than 6 others who had similar instances with the SAME DEPUTY. We found that the people who had decided to fight their tickets just happened to be from out-of-state, or from the city of Atlanta(as we were). It's not the laws that are wrong, it's certain law enforcement personnel who take it upon themselves to rack up their cases and make themselves look good by abusing their power.

Comment (2/2003): Apparently the city of Ashburn is a depressed revenue starved little town that must put most if not all their law enforcement resources on I75, just to keep the city budget solvent. I75 apparently is a better source of revenue than any other means. If they don’t get money from the speed trap and no one stops to purchase anything, sooner or later they disappear. I live too far from Ashburn, thank god, to make a fight in court cost effective

Comment (9/2003): I agree that Ashburn Police on I-75 is purely a revenue stream. The Sheriff's Department are the ones actually there for safety, though they too can get out of line. The speeding fines are ridiculous for Ashburn. Two people were pulled over, one ran. One was given a ticket for 20 over in a 70 by the city, one for 20 over in a construction zone and running by the county...The city ticket was higher.

Comment (1/2004): I got a speeding ticket in December by an Ashburn police officer on interstate 75. He was sitting there at exit 82. I was running 95 MPHin a 70 speed zone. He stopped me and was extra nice as he gave me a $ 340.00 dollar ticket. I felt the fine should have been 25.00 dollars. I plan on going back through this area this summer and I will probably be running 90 or faster again. I will see if he can catch be this time.
