Officer sitting on right side of State Hwy 5 at foot of hill coming South. Does not turn on blue lights until you are approaching A. W. Robert intersection. You pull into Country Cupboard parking lot off highway. Officer approachs car with hand on gun, tells you radar clocked you at 71 mph when you topped hill. Without thinking you say, but my speedometer said 67 mph. Officer becomes annoyed, and says "67 or 71", you are still breaking law. You are offered recalibration test of radar. You refuse because your don't have the faintest idea of whether its right or wrong, and at approximately 10 P.M. as a woman driving alone you are not comfortable with leaving your car if its required and getting into a car with a man you don't know. When you call to find out what the amount of the ticket is, you are told $91.00. Upon reaching City Hall in Ball Ground, you are told it is $104.00 if you are going 15 miles over the speed limit, so the difference between 67 and 71,does make a difference. I know I was exceeding the speed limit, but I do question by how much.
Comment (3/2003): First of all the Officer does not take you to his car. Second, the fine is probably $91.00, but they add court costs, and the state charges fines as well. Think and research before you say something you know absolutely nothing about.

In the city limits of Ballground, police sit either in the parking lot of a truck gas station on the left going north on hwy 5. And just a 1/4 mile from there they sit in a small bank on the left or in a full-service BP gas station on the right at the 1st intersection in Ballground going north on hwy 5. They are out 7 days a week gunning cars at any time of the day but especially at night.
