beware the visitors that come to "paradise"...if you get photographed while speeding here...(and how will you know, since most likely you will be using a rental)...your name and address will be put into a national registry so that you will not be able to renew your licsence or renew your vehicle registration unless all fines are paid!!!!!! beware the wary tourists!!!!!!!!!!! is this the so-called aloha that we give to the visitors to these islands?? thank the governor and the greedy politician of hawaii for this one!! i am ashamed that you will be treatted as such! bad enough the residents are! aloha

I wanted to add to a previous report of the photo-enforcement radar on Oahu. The State is increasing the number of vans to 30 and will be covering all state highways, freeways and roads. The city has rejected the use of the program, but you cannot travel the Island without driving the State Roads. There is a zero tolerance policy, so even going downhill on a 2-lane divded freeway the speed limit is as low as 45 miles per hour and you will be ticketed if you go 46! Every ticket will affect your insurance rates. We of Hawaii are stuck here, but we are warning visitors these tickets will be charged to them when driving their rental cars and are encouraging you to visit any other "tropical paradise" to avoid long term monetary consequences.

Oahu is utalizing a program using the vans with radar and camera. They are mailing out citations by the hundreds. There is talk of a zero tolerance policy. The fine is $27 plus $5 for each mile per hour over the speed limit. The Island is 67 mile long and there are four vans... Also, red-light runners are now having their pictures taken. (This too means a citation.) Happy driving in Hawaii.
