The State Police have been running "Airspeed" on this stretch of road every few weeks. Speed limit is 55, but average speed is 75 to 80 mph, so they love this section of road. Squads will sit on the on ramp from Frank Scott Parkway and wait for you as you are being timed from above. They usually run airspeed for a period of 2 hours and then move to another location.

Comment (8/2002): The St. Clair Co. sherriff's office also runs speed traps on Frank Scott Prkwy West just south of the entrance/exit ramps to Route 15.

Comment (1/2003): Belleville is also during dry times usually sit on 161 near Dutch Hollow Post Office/ Dutch Hollow apartment buildings (speed limit is 55 mph)(Brown/Beige Color Apartments) Known near whelenbacher Go carts/ batting cage & construction company. if heading east right hand side of 161, if heading west on left hand side of 161. Also At night if driving on Lebanon road the Highway sign Building on Lebanon road Belleville Police usually sit deep in Parking lot entrance waiting for anyone speeding downhill on Lebanon Road (speed limit is 40 Mph) also anyone coming from Fairview Heights on Old Lincoln Trail.

Comment (3/2004): i agree they are always out there waiting its a new road and bad place to get caught speeding

Comment (11/2003): Have lived in Belleville for about 6 months and am impressed. No bad speed trapping anywhere I go. Route 15 off of 255 is a perfect place to write tons of tickets between Our Lady of Snows and 13. The only time I have spoken with an officer is when my car stalled(ford) and he was just seeing if I needed help.

It's not too often, but the Belleville PD, St. Clair Co Sheriff, and Illinois State Police use unpaved sections on both sides of Route 15 to setup speed traps. There is one just a quarter mile after IL-159 eastbound towards Freeburg and another one a quarter mile before you reach IL-159 heading westbound.

I've seen the Belleville PD, St. Clair Sheriff, and Illinois State Police use Eckert's front and rear parking lot to setup traps. Generally, be cautious around Eckert's (especially on weekends and late nights).
