Illinois state road posted at 55 mph upon entering Richmond Illinois speed posted at 35 mph Illinois state law requires a ten mile reduction in speed increments. Most motorist are not aware of the law and in court if it is not presented by the motorist he is found guilty of speeding
Comment (5/2003): I fought a ticket on this same technicality. The chief and town knows that they have an illegal speed limit set but they refuse to do anything about it. I only found out about the law because I hired an attorney to fight the ticket.

On Route 12, between Routes 31 and 173, there is always a police car in the area. Richmond PD likes to enforce rediculous statutes and ordinances (for example: the color of street legal lights on the vehicle)
