World Famous Speed Trap: Funds the entire Cicero Police Department, which boasts more cops per resident than any other Indiana City. 55 becomes 30 then 20 thru town. Numerous hiding spots...behind the wall at the cemetery, in red bridge park, firing radar off arni's parking lot and anywhere along the 20 mph area. no forgiveness. no warnings. no slack. this trap has been featured in 'america's top 10' traps in the past. i was shocked it wasn't on this site!

Comment (1/2003): Cicero is the worst. I live in Tipton and when ever I have to got South on St.Rd. 19 I try to detour Cicero if possible. I can't believe shop owners haven't complained that the business is detouring around Cicero just because of the law enforcement. The speed bothers me a little, the over enthusiastic cops really bother me a lot.

Comment (6/2003): In the whole area of Cicero everybody knows to watch their speed.

Comment (10/2003): Last time I checked speeding was an infraction, and if you want a warning they are posted ever 800 feet or so and say SPEED LIMIT.

Comment (10/2003): 10/03, I must say that I have to agree with you. Cicero has posted speed limit signs every 800 ft or less and it is good because of how small the streets are and the amount of people that are outside everyday. THE SPEED LIMIT SIGNS ARE EXTREMELY VISIBLE AND SO ARE THE POLICE CARS.

Comment (10/2003): I agree. The amount of childen playing outside and families walking throught the town, the speed is the right limit. The next time you complain about the speed, think of how you would feel about people running 15-20 mph over the speed limit past your house and around your children.

cicero, with the highest cop per person ratio in the natural free world, places a cop at the western edge of the morse bridge during am rush. speeds drop from 50 to 30 to 20 within 1/2 of a mile and they'll grab you for 5 over. i mean, afterall, with no other source of revenue this small town has to bilk somebody and motorists are as fair of game. how else can you feed the 10 cops hired by a town of only 3000?
