Just past the Chesterton exit (26) on I-94 westbound, there is a fairly good curve and a bridge. State troopers like to sit hidden well in the left lane shoulder by the bridge and will catch people coming by in the hammer lane. Sometimes they work alone and will put out and pull over, other times they have "buddies" sitting up ahead and will radio to the descriptions of offending cars and they will pull over too. This is just past where the speed limit is reduced from 65 to 55 for the next 26 miles to Illinois border. Speed limit should remain 65 till at least exit 15, but this is a good revenue maker for the state. Sometimes marked cars, usually unmarked crown vics, or camaros.
Comment (6/2004): I agree, I have been driving home many times and have often passed officers in that location. If there is another trooper that is informed via radio, he is usually just over the hill or at the break in the median located at the bottom of the hill, as you are making another large turn. I have not seen as many police patrolling on the eastbound side but on occasion they rest under the bridge that is next to the large wall.
