This stretch of 4 lane, divided U.S. highway runs parallel to Interstate 65 from Lebanon to Lafayette and with the State Police Post at Lafayette, it has a significantly higher number of patrol vehicles than the interstate.

Comment (12/2002): One of the officers prefers to drive a green (newer year) camaro for these and seems to pull over semis and other large vehicles more than sedans.

Comment (6/2004): I have noticed many times a heavy police presence onthis rural, nearly empty stretch of state highway, and drivers have to be much more careful than the setting suggests.
