Speeding or not will ticket and lie in court. One officer was fired from sheriffs reserve for not being trueful (Their words). A town of 1,00o doesn't need a ploice force and and A Harley Davison motorcycle patrol. City judge, Attorney, and City 100% behind speed enforcement
Comment (6/2003): Entering Altamont from the north on Ness Road the speed limit drops to 35 milesan hour 6 tenths of a mile before you reach Highway 160 which runs right through Altamont. However if you go north out of Altamont on Ness Road the 35 mile anhour speed limit extends over a mile north. A patrolman sits concealed at exactlya mile north and tickets northbound vehicles exceeding the 35 mile an hour speedlimit while cars headed south are ticketed if they exceed the 55 mile an hour speed limit. Seems just a mite unfair.
Comment (6/2003): Entering Altamont from the north heading south on Ness Road the speed limit drops to 35 miles an hour 6 tenths of a mile from highway 160 which runs right thruAltamont. As you drive north out of Altamont on this same road (Ness Road) thespeed limit remains at 35 miles an hour until you are 1 mile and 1 tenth beforeit increases to 55 miles an hour. The police will often hide 1 mile north andyou will be speeding if you go over 55 miles an hour while heading south andspeeding if you go over 35 miles an hour while heading north. Hardly seems rightbut apparently is a real money maker.
Comment (8/2004): Also, going east into town, or west out of town, speed limit goes from 55 to 30, cop sits across the street from the rodeo grounds and tickets people for going as little as 1 mile over the speed limit! Also, a cop has been "given warnings" for writing over 170 tickets during a 7-day period. They have also done "drug" or "seat-belt" checks from that point, pulling over EVERY car that passes by. (I was pulled over 3 times in one day b/c i live northwest of town...1.going to work, 2. going home, and 3. going out with friends.)
Comment (1/2005): I live in australia where we have speed cameras and rediculous amounts of different speed zones. Changing any amount of times on one rd. From 40km/hour to 50 to 60 to 70 ,80,90,100 and back again, its a rediculous money maker and so is you 35milep/h one way and 55 the otherrediculous
