deputy with a big dog sniffs on the car, yet never read of any busts in the county. Go figure, the sheriff is under investigation anyway.

Comment (12/2002): The Speed TraP signs for Bronson have been removed. The speed limit was raised to 40 mph and the Police Department couldn't make any money. The city commissioners decided they couldn't afford the high dollar protection so they terminated the Bronson Police Department. One of the city officer's moved west to LaHarpe, KS and is now trying to run a speed trap there.

Comment (7/2002): You can hardly listen to the scanner in the afternoon during the week, They have a male dispatcher that is rude, hateful and just plain doesn't want to be there. He needs to move on.

Comment (7/2002): While passing through Bronson Kansas,There is a HUGE sign that reads SLOW DOWN SPEED TRAP! There is a cop setting there just waiting to bust you.

Comment (9/2003): Speed trap has moved to La Harpe on US 54 about 7 miles west of Iola, Ks. Then another 12/13 miles is Moran on US 54 and US 59 with another speed trap ready and willing to hammer one and all. On 54 it is Missouri tags and on 59 Oklahoma that get hammered the most. One place in Iola, Ks on 54 they set back on a church parking lot and when you come from the west around a curve by the hospital the sped zone drops from 35 to 25 and they are there waiting for you.

This section of the highway was apparently under construction earlier, is now a wide 6 lanes or so. A 45 mph speed limit sign is in existance, but appears to be for a small stretch. There were no signs of construction equipment, men, machines, or other traffic. To make more money, they then call it a "fines double in construction zones". Must be a real push to generate tickets, after giving proof of insurance, he gave me a warning ticket for no insurance!! Poor guy, he must have needed tickets badly. I was cited for 57 in a 45, which I probably was doing since I thought it was a 65 zone. It should be noted that the city of Mulvane’s fines are higher than legally allowed by Kansas State law.
