Officer sits by compost site just inside city limits.

Comment (9/2003): NOt only do the officers sit by the compost site, but also as you head out of town going west, they sit at the motel and trap you there. They have also been known to wait right at Ohio St and catch you headed out of town to the east.

Comment (9/2003): Those guys are sneaky... They have a laser too... WATCH OUT!

Comment (12/2003): Those officers in Augusta wrote me a ticket, but they were very nice. I asked if they would reduce the speed on the ticket and they gave me the City Attorney's name. They were helpful. I saw that they had put the traffic enforcement time and date in the paper and radio, but I just forgot about it. When I looked over to the side of the road they were sitting there quite obvious, but I was listening to a cowboy radio station and they were talking about the 'speed trap.' When I told the officer about that, he just smiled and asked me to be careful, especially since I had my twins in the car with me.

Headed North on Santa Fe Lake Rd (South of Hwy 54), right before SW 110th St., the speed limit changes from 55 to 40 and you have about 5 seconds at best to slam on your brakes. As you go up the hill @ 55, right before you hit the top it changes to 40. You can't see the other side at the bottom of the hill, where a sherriff's officer will be sitting at the bottom waiting to clock you speeding as soon as you hit the top and by the time you see him, it's too late, because he has already spotted you.
