Going south toward Adair County in Taylor County is constantly 55MPH. Once into Adair County it drops down to 45MPH without any appearent reason (very few accidents, no obstructions, etc). Adair is a State Police post, and lately a trooper has been 'nesting' just after the 10MPH drop. Marked car, but no roof lights, grey in color, one has to be right on top of him to realize he's a trooper. The Hwy picks right back up to 55MPH after about a mile, then drops down to 45MPH two miles after that. My guess is this pulls double duty... trapping unsuspecting travelers and giving reason for drug searches (heavey Marijauna growing happens in Adair County - but that is another website).

Comment (4/2005): I can personally vouch for this one. However I do believe it is back to 55 mph from Taylor County until you get to the city limits.
