Speed strictly enforced in this small town north of bossier city, with signs posted to that effect on either end of town.
Comment (7/2002): I got a speeding ticket here on July 3, 2002. The officer was very polite and professional but the 45mph speed limit extends too far beyond the population of this friendly Louisiana town.
Comment (7/2003): I had a clean driving record until I decided to take my sister and brother-in-law to the Hollywood casino in Bossier city. traveling on hwy 3 back to Arkansas I was doing the speed limit. When out of the blue a benton cop tagged me. When he came to the car he was a real smart ass. Said that I was doing 15 over the posted speed. I did see him at a gas station with his interior light on probably reading the paper and clutching a powdered jelly donut. Just made up a speed in his head because I asked him could I see the radar and he said no I could not. I went ahead and paid the ticket because I live 4 hours away.

Designed to catch southbound traffic entering the north side of town. The area is very rural and the speed limit drops from 55 to 45 without much warning to unsuspecting motorist. The road turns and goes over a RR track. Police sit in the outside of the curve on a dirt road hidden and facing the overpass. You don't realize you are in Benton until you drive over the overpass. They ticket anything over 46 mph.
