MTA Police sit in the median (2 seperate spots about a mile apart) between the Curtis Creek Bridge and Rt 10 exit (exit 2). Be careful around there spots
Comment (10/2003): It is the MdTA Police, not the MTA. Maryland Transportation Authority Police.
Comment (9/2004): also after you go past the tunnel and round the bend

While on Church Street the speed listed drops from 30MPH to 25MPH. I have seen city, AA County and State police cars waiting at the intersections.

This section of I-895 (the I-895 Spur) between I-895 and Interstate 97 as well as MD 2 South has a speed limit posted below what should be the prevailing safe traffic speed. The highway through this stretch is wide (4 lanes with shoulders and generous median), straight, and visibility is excellent. In spite of these, the speed limit is posted as 50 mph while 55 or 60 might be more reasonable. This section is not exploited (I don't believe) by MdTA Police or the Maryland State Police, but the possibility exists. Watch your speed through this area as there is a nice berm (closer to the junction with I-895) behind which one or two cruisers can hide completely undetected. The officers have an excellent vantage point there and can measure your speed from a good distance away as the highway is quite straight. People routinely whiz by with excessive speed. It is extremely hard at some times of day to safely do 50 mph with the traffic going so fast. I firmly believe the enforcement is necessary, but a well-enforced 60 mph limit for this stretch, I believe, is fairer than the current 50.

Always on Sat & Sun mornings between 9:30-10:30 I see state police standing out there pulling over cars - once there were 5 cars pulled over at the same time, this is on the Northbound side of 295 - haven't seen anything on the southbound side. They're pretty serious about this spot and looks like they're making a mint!
