As you go over the bridge that crosses interstate 95, Rt 99 turns into Cat Mousam Rd. You do not see the speed change until you cross the bridge. Many times a cruiser is sitting next to the speed sign. You will not have time to adjust your speed.

Driving North on Rt. 1 from Wells, the speed limit drops from 50 to 35 finally to 25. The 25 mph zone begins at the rest area. Kennebunk Police often stop cars here. The Kennebunk Police Department either rewards or punishes their officers based on the amount of stops they make. Officers are constantly threatened with being moved to less desirable shifts or other sanctions if they don't "hit their numbers". This particular trap is a sure bet for easy traffic stops.

Not a speed trap, rather, an obstacle course. Kennebunk Police have been ordered to watch the roundabout and stop any car that crosses the line separating the center of the rotary from the travel lane. This is in keeping with the department's philosophy to penalize or reward officers based on the amopunt of stops they make. trucks and busses are exempt from the dreaded line crossing violation, as they cannot turn within the radius of the lines.

25 mph speed limit ranging from the Corning/Costar plant to the 4-way stop on Alfred Rd. where Thompson Rd. and Mill St. intersect. Kennebunk Officers hide off the road in the entrance to a gravel pit. Again, Kennebunk Officers are either rewarded or punished based on how many cars they stop - whether tickets are issued or not.

If you get off Rt. 1 in Wells and travel Rt. 9 to get to Kennebunkport, Kennebunk Police will stop you in the 25 mph zone near Boothby Road. This zone stretches until the 4 way traffic lights at the intersection with Rt. 35. This is due to the Kennebunk Police officers being either rewarded or punished based on how many cars they stop.

From the intersection of Main St. and Summer St, by the Town hall and FD and PD, a 25 mph zone. Kennebunk Officers will cruise back and forth and get you on moving radar. This is in keeping with the KPD practice of either rewarding or penalizing their officers for the amount of cars they stop.

Kennebunk Police travel this road quite often and hide out on one of its many side streets, most of which are not visible until you pass them. The speed limit on this road is 35Mph but the prevailing speed is a 40-50.
