Town Police have on unit on the route-1 (Plesent St. and express way) almost all the time accept for the early morning hours. Route-1 has a lot of tourist traffic and they are prime picking as they exit I-95 and they are prime picking if they do not drop from 65 to 35 quickly.

Comment (4/2004): I agree. This is a trap well-known by the locals. I-95 "Coastal Routes" exit takes you into Brunswick on US 1 business, drops from 65/45/35 in about 1/2 miles. Police work inbound Brunswick from 95 and outbound (same road) to 95 as people speed up prematurely to long highway on ramp. Sunny summer days yield a bumper crop of tickets.

Comment (4/2005): 04/08/05 Rarely do I see a policeman and or radartrap at the exit off I-95 (295 now) onto Pleasant St. in Brunswick. However, traffic SHOULD slow down t the posted 35 MPH limit!

Comment (5/2005): That section of highway has always been posted 55 not 65. Hardly anyone adheres to the 35-45-55 signs anyway. Hardly anyone here knows the meaning of YIELD signs either on entering the highway.

North bound on US Rt 1 entering Brunswick, the speed limit drastically drops to 35mph, just as the gas stations are visable on the right, local police sit either at the first gas station on the right or in the median next to the bushes on the left. They are there anytime of the day or night but espically at night with their lights off. Too many people have been nailed their because at 35mph it feels like a crawl, espically after driving 65mph on the interstate.

State police sit in the southbound breakdown lane at approximately mile marker 26 located on a curve to the right going uphill. They apparently use instant on radar. The moment your radar detector goes off (when you are first able to see them), they have already clocked you!
