Allen Park Cops love to catch speeders who figure they have the whole freeway. Especially northbound as Southfield Road becomes the freeway just before Van Born. Watch especially for the grassy knoll on the northbound side just before Oakwood.

Police regularly watch the stretch of Outer Drive between I-94 and the Southfield Freeway. They use radar and laser, and are VERY good at hiding their location! I got popped for doing 50 (35MPH zone) just recently there.

South bound Southfield Fwy Service Drive from Outer Drive to Van Born Rd. Allen Parks finest are there every day around 11:00 am taking pictures and passing out tickets. Speed limit varies from 35 to 25 then back to 35 and the boys in blue are just waiting by the reduced speed limit area. They're making a fortune there. Beware!

North and Southbound Southfield Freeway. Between I-94 and the Dearborn border (Rotunda Exit). They sit on the overpass, and have both city, state, and sheriff cars lined up waiting to nail you. DO NOT go over 60mph. Speed limit is 55mph. They also park at the tops of the overpass, so that by the time you see them as you go under an overpass, they have already clocked you.

Sitting back in the parking lot of Denny's on Southfield Road just before Allen Road, they also use the side street next to Denny's. Another new spot they sit across from the Allen Park Show and ticket unspectingly "tail lights" "headlights." I was had for a head light. Also the larger speed trap in Allen Park is on the Southfield Expressway both North and South bound, in Allen Park, they poach on the embankments and sit along the banks destoying the grass that the tax payers have to pay to replace after they destroy Who pays for that and is their a ticket for destroying public property???Who's breaking what law?

If you going north on Outer Dr. from Allen Rd. past Baker College (which will be on your left hand side). Once you pass the second underpass (Both are I-96) SLOW DOWN! There WILL be a cop right as you start turning with the road. It is a hill so you won't be able to see him. He will be parked in an area which is dark and he blends in.

The Rotunda Drive overpass over Southfield is being reconstructed. The posted speed limit on Southfield is 45 in that construction zone. Allen Park likes to sit on the Northbound side between Oakwood and Rotunda (sometimes up on the hill). Most drivers are pulled over before the Rotunda exit. Fines are doubled in construction zones.

This is not considered a trap by any means. This is just a precaution. I have had a police officer follow me within inches of my bumper on Champaign, from Pelham to Allen Road. Ever since I got a speeding ticket in this city I go the speed limit and nothing else (not even flow of traffic, unless slower than speed limit of course). Anyway, once I passed all the stop signs and traffic signal right after the railroad tracks the officer just passed on the Left of me while I was trying to make a Left into the library. The car did not have any lights on or siren blaring nor did he once he passed me and made it through the green light at Allen road right before the light changed... I think I was annoying him because everyone on Champaign goes about 30-35 and I was doing exactly 25 The Speed Limit! This was right near a school and apartments, so what if a kid or any pedestrian were to start crossing the street? Not only this, but it's the law. Why should us "regular" citizens be the only ones that must obey it?! Well maybe it was the end of his shift... That should be a good enough reason, right?
