After the 90 degree turn onto the "highway" heading towards Battle Creek the speed limit stays 35mph for a couple of hundred yards. Hard not to speed up with that long stretch as far as the eye can see in front of you. Big bust factor...Watch out...

Comment (11/2002): Cops like to sit by the Ft. Custer cemetery entrance. I should know Iam one of those evil cops.

Comment (5/2003): Not really to enforced till Friday and Saturday nights because of the drag racers who go from the Coney Island Hot dog stand on Dickman Rd (M-96) right at the Springfield border, past the VA hospital into downtown @ Augusta. its not safe to speed cause there are psych patients from the VA hospital who do wander away and alot of deer. If you speed you will not have time to stop and will get into an accident if a deer or psych patient from the hospital step in front of you.

Comment (7/2003): Heading west, the speed limit changes from 45 to 35 as you approach the bridge over the creek. I've seen police officers aimed perpendicularly to the road hidden behind some sort of business establisment right after the bridge (a white building?). You won't see them until you are right in front of them.

Comment (9/2003): To the last comment, thats the VA hospital police. They are not auhtorized to write tickets on Dickman Rd.

Comment (1/2004): As you go out of the town of Agugusta On W monroe almost to the 55 MPH you crest a hill that is where they hide, very mean. Watch out, recommended speed 15 to 20 MPH They don,t give you any room.In fact I think they pad the bill

Comment (2/2004): The shame of the speed trap in Augusta is they are targeting old veterans traveling to and from the Veterans Hospital in Battle Creek

Comment (3/2004): As a former VA and local police officer this enforcement zone is nowhere near a trap. The VA police and Augusta cars are almost identical in stripping and decaling and only those who can tell the difference usually do.Second this "trap" does not target the old veterans going to the hospital. The majority of speeding tickets I issued along this road were for speeds 15 plus. This area has a high accident rate between all the drunk factory rats who go to the dive bars in downtown Battle Creek and then drive home to either Augusta or out even to Galesburg and the idiots who race and end up smacking into a deer.Alot of times the "trap" in Augusta wasnt even run by Augusta PD. Augusta PD operates part time and has coverage from the Kalamazoo County Sheriff after certain hours. On M-66 in Augusta, there is also a trash bar once you come into town limits (which actually start at the Railroad tracks). Ross TWP is another police force which actually has responsibility for M-66 from Armstrong Rd (county line) to the RR crossing. Every so often you'd also see MI DNR rangers and an occasional MSP trooper.

Comment (02/2008): The cops must be losing money on the Augusta Drive speed trap and having starting videotaping people when they get to the stop sign at Augusta Drive and Dickman Road. If you don\'t make a complete stop, you will get a ticket no matter what. The cop sits near the cycle shop on Dickman. It is the only industry in Augusta!

Comment (03/2008): STOP CRYING, stop at the stop sign, and stop going to court and telling the judge that you stopped, when you did not. STOp means STOP, NOT roll thru the stop sign, or anything else, want some cheese and crackers to go w/that wine?....
