Just North of town where the limit goes for 55 down to 45 they will sit in to old gas station parking lot right on the north side of town and face north catching the trafic coming into town. Also on the south side of town where the speed limit is still 40 mph they will sit and face either way catching traffic not slowing down coming into town or speeding up to soon leaving town.
Comment (9/2003): The officers monitor the traffic in these areas not just late at night, but throughout the day and especially during times of high traffic volume. This is a neccesity in our community due to the number of individuals who drive through the city on Highway 218 at speeds well over the posted 30 mph limit. This roadway is the crossing point between residential neighborhoods and several downtown areas including the Elementary School, City Park, Library etc. Without monitoring, it is dangerous for those attempting to turn onto or off of 218, not to mention the pedestrians who need to cross, especially those on their way to and from school. I appreciate the police department's commitment to the safety of those in our community.
Comment (2/2004): Just got one south of town. Got one north of town last year
