Between the traffic lights on 52 and Highway 19 Cannon Falls has annexed this section of highway for revenue enhancement, I really didn't care until tonight a Vet got a ticket close to midnight, my thought is you give a Vet Nam Vet a little slack for what he went through for this country.
Comment (6/2006): I am not sure about allowing Vietnam Vets some slack if they break speed limits (btw, who else should get some slack...families of those who died in wars or victims of 9/11?) - but I completely agree with the authorities that this stretch of road should have a lower speed limit than the rest of the hwy. Hwy 52 goes straight through the middle of Canon Falls. I take this road often - I can easily imagine someone going too fast to be able to stop for someone who is crossing. The speed limit drops from 65 to 55 for 1 mile or so - this is well marked, and should be easy for anyone to follow.
