South on 169 entering Champlin from Anoka (right after you cross the river). Speed limit goes from 35 to 55.
Comment (10/2002): Additionally, a bit further south on 169 just North of the 610 exit there is a speed trap set up Mid-day. They use Radar, and they are most likely the same officers who are doing the previously mentions speed trap. I received 2 tiket there last year.
Comment (6/2003): Still there as of 06/17/2003
Comment (6/2003): I have lived in Champlin now for 17 years and this is the only place I will never speed. The cops are board and have nothing better to do, trust me never speed in Champlin.
Comment (6/2003): They also like to set up on Dayton River Road (County 12) towards Elk River, about where the speed limit changes from 30 to 40. They put on officer in the trees with the gun just past Sunrise and get ya.
Comment (8/2003): 169 going south after Hayden Lake Road. Watch out for badge no 135. That is a huge speed trap.
Comment (11/2003): Between the Anoka bridge and the mill pond is one the most well patrolled areas anywhere, but if you keep your eyes open and radar on you shouldn't have a problem.
Comment (2/2004): 117th Ave between 169 and West River Road, 30 miles an hour for about a two mile stretch.

The police are hiding in the bushes... the entire length of road from downtown Dayton to 169. I have personally received 4 tickets on this road, one of them for going 2 MPH over the speed limit.

On elm Creek the park and radar regularly! Watch out, it is 30MPH because it is a parkway not a highway so they ticket many flying down parkway!

A real Champlin female "Peace? Officer" honestly told me they use that area as a speed trap. Due to the inconsistancy of traffic signs, as far as the speed limit and the location of the sign, there is a high possibility YOU will be trapped. Please don't help the deficit, we already have too many officers with nothing to do. $115.00 tickets add up!

Unmarked squad sits in the median between 101st Ave No and 109th Ave No. Instead of so many speed traps why don't the Champlin police concentrate their efforts on cars that run the red lights at the major stoplights from Champlin to the Anoka border. Specifically 109th, 114th and 120th.

Beware The Champlin Police set up speed traps on 117th & 169 all the time the trick they play is at night as you are approchiong the stop light at 169 the cops sit with their lights off on the side of the road and will get you for going 1MPH over 30 (Champlin police need to inforce Red light runners on 169 and relax a little.
Comment (10/2002): Additionally, a bit further south on 169 just North of the 610 exit there is a speed trap set up Mid-day. They use Radar, and they are most likely the same officers who are doing the previously mentions speed trap. I received 2 tiket there last year.

Dayton River Road between highway 169 and county rd. 144 in Dayton. The speed limit chages often. Coming from hwy. 169 speed is 30mph then to 40 and once again to 50mph. I see Champlin cops there ALL THE TIME in the afternoon. there is lots of side streets for police to hide on. I see them about 3-4 times out of the week (M-F) going to work. And ussally has someone pulled over.
