Pullovers sometimes create traffic problems because there are few places for violators to pull over safely. Cops have good places to hide in all directions.
Comment (5/2004): They are using Laser there now. It is impossible to fight in court.
Comment (8/2002): Burnsville uses EXCESSIVE speed trapping for revenue generation!! often two or three cars pulled over at this location.
Comment (2/2003): Ironically, other crime in Burnsville has increased significantly (particularily B&Es) while crime has dropped in most other communities. Priorities anyone?
Comment (2/2004): I got nailed here a few months back. Going south on Nicollet, they sit in the side streets off to the right (the west) at the bottom of the slight downward hill. Stupid part was that I saw people getting pulled over there all the time, all day long, but still got tagged...
Comment (4/2004): I also got caught here. The trap is in the middle of a declining hill, and they will pull you over for going 5 mph over. I was just idling down the hill in neutral, and they still gave me my [first] ticket!
Comment (7/2004): westbnd. downhill on mcandrews with squad near bottom of the hill. speed limit changes constantly on mcandrews lowering as you travel westward towards nicollet ave. uphill so you naturally accelerate then shape dropoff just afer the crest of the hill so you have no fair opportunity. officer was son of a co-worker you told me his rookie son was told he gave too many warnings! also cty rd 5 and burnsville pkwy is a trap..all burnsville residents know these..i was/am not..pick on the visitors..they dont vote there
Comment (02/2008): Instead of complaining, why don\'t you people just pay your damn tickets or slow down? Why blame the police? They\'re doing they\'re job and you\'d complain if they weren\'t.

On Burnsville's 4 lane McAndrews road, the speed limit of 35mph is most often ignored by drivers. Because of this, when going west on McAndrews, as a driver comes over the hill towards Nicollet, a regular speedtrap can be found in the entrance to road near the corner. Usually there are about 3 or 4 squad cars during the 'fund-raiser' time of the month. Never go faster than 40 in this area, or they will write a ticket. I have a clean record, and just moved into the burnsville area 'Hello Officers!' I got one for going 45! (of course, I will fight it, and am considering moving- maybe to Mexico, where at least I can pay off the federales)

You are either going northbound or southbound along Highway 13. You can't see the squad car (usually an unmarked, dark-gray Ford Crown Victoria) until it's too late. The squad car hides around the corner where you can't see it. Be sure to obey the speed limit in this area, which is 50 MPH.

Everyday for the past week or two on my way to work I see someone pulled over here by the same car. It's an unmarked car that's very light blue. I even saw a big unmarked SUV that had someone pulled over here. I think it was an Expidition. BVPD has got some new unmarked cars that do not look like any of their other unmarked cars. With these new looks it's harder for most people to identify the car as a police car. In the state that our economy is prices seem to go up everywhere. This has effected the police and I think the answer is "More Tickets". These cars are new and someone has to pay for them. They need to justify the purchase of these new vehicles and they hope to make a profit from them. They are heavily preying on rush hour traffic, especially AM traffic going north bound. It's not just speed that they are looking for either; they are looking for any reason to pull you over.
