DO NOT SPEED ANYWHERE in Cooper County, Missouri! A friend of mine from my Sunday school class got pulled over near Boonville recently, doing 94 in a 70 zone on Interstate 70 while on his way to see his kids (he's divorced). Anyhoo, the moral of the story is DO NOT SPEED IN COOPER COUNTY, MO -- I CANNOT EMPHASIZE THIS ENOUGH! They are honest about how fast you were doing but they seem to hate speeders with a VENGEANCE, so if you get caught there, you'll be in for a big-time wallet-cleansing if you're dumb enough to try it, so don't even think about it, 'nuff said.

Comment (5/2002): I can vouch for this... My boyfriend is from Boonville. The first time I drove into town with him (I'm from Columbia) he made a big fuss over the speed limit-and I was only going maybe 5-10 miles over the speed limit. He says the cops are tight on on speeders because they have nothing better to do...
