Driving Northbound, along the median wall there is a police officer in a navy blue (un-marked), white (with decals), or tan/pink police car parked alongside (SP?) the outside of the median wall under the exit informational sign.
Comment (11/2002): Also look on the north bound entrance ramp to the highway behind the trees
Comment (11/2002): The best way to avoid a ticket is to drive the speed limit.
Comment (3/2003): keep up the good work Bel Ridge. at lease some one is enforcing the state and city traffic laws.
Comment (4/2003): They are not enforcing the law for the sake of protecting and serving the community. They are writing tickets to generate revenue. Bel-ridge, if you get off the highway and drive through, is largely a horrid area. If the police actually had an interest in serving the community there are better ways than sitting in the half mile stretch of interstate that goes through with their donuts and radar.
Comment (5/2003): I agree with the person who posted on 4/2003. The area of Bel Ridge appears to be quite poor. Natural Bridge Road is littered with potholes and the buildings appear to be falling apart. It's not a safe area. There's no other way to generate money than to just pull over everybody who seems to do the slightest thing wrong on NBR and 170.
Comment (6/2003): It looks like the Bel-Ridge police department had an internal investigation done after they blew away the Court with tickets and had so many complaints from bogus ones. After all those tickets they ignorantly issued they had a new Police Station built, go figure. They should concentrate on the crime around and at the campus. I have had a close friend get mugged, raped, and seriously maimed there. Unfortunately, she isn't the only one. UMSL however offers these victims free schooling if they keep it from surfacing. So, in short the Bel-Ridge police in my case should spend less time harassing students, especially easy pray (young girls) and start protecting them.
Comment (10/2003): and if them being on the road and not in their community isn't enough, I've seen them doing security at the schnucks store at page and 170, which is in overland. Hmmmm.... At least they are keeping 1 community safer lol
Comment (02/2008): This much is not true as i know the officers at bel-ridge and have worked with them personally. they don\'t sit with donuts and radar they sit with a watchful eye and an attentive ear to the radio for other calls. If all they do is sit up there to write tickets then tell me why there hasn\'t been a major accident up there in years? when it used to be an accident every other day? with cooperation from other departments they\'ve been able to reduce accidents up there and near there by over 70% and are working with the community with a c.o.p. program to aid in getting the community back to what it should be. change happens over a while. not over night. so don\'t sit there and judge unless your ready to sit there and be judged. have a safe day. Watchful Eye
Comment (07/2008): What a laugh that the police officers do ANYTHING other than hang out and give speeding tickets. That\'s why the IMO\'s Pizza has been held up at gunpoint 2 times in the past 9 mos, the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy had an attempted armed robbery at gunpoint at 2:00pm in the afternoon, the Rent a Center furniture store was robbed in the last 12 months, the Big L Chinese place has been robbed 2 times in the past 12 months, the off campus College Textbook store beside it has been robbed 2 times in the past 12 months, and the Dollar General store has been robbed in the past 12 months. Uh huh, this all happened right ACROSS the street from the Police Station.
Comment (08/2008): So I guess that means they\'re not just sitting at the police station doing nothing!! They\'re out there enforcing the laws and with the help of more officers may even be able to stop all the thefts. Keep up the great work Bel-Ridge Officers. You deserve more credit than you are getting here.
Comment (10/2008): I was stopped on I-170 by Officer J.W. Brock, apparently the (very young) son of Police Chief Gordon Brock. I didn\'t know anything about the reputation of this community and police family until checking the internet. I was angry about being stopped because I didn\'t think I was going any faster than other cars. I wondered what it was about me or my car that prompted them to stop me. Some kind of profiling? Does anyone know of someone in St. Louis County law enforcement who has some leverage/clout in dealing with Bel-Ridge\'s police department. Or should I just ignor the ticket?

This small jurisdiction only lives off revenue of motorist. The police are always waiting for you. Especially, on the weekends, holidays, and night time hours around 9:00pm in the summer and 5:30pm in the fall, winter, spring season. They use something called the pullover system, where they pullover vehicles at random to check the driver and passageners for wrong doing. Such as not wearing a seatbelt, tail light out, simple infractions. Instead of pulling you over for speeding, they are looking for other laws to broken. Beware of all the jurisdictons : St.Ann, Edmundson, Woodson Terrance, Berkeley, Bel-Ridge, Bel-Nor, Believre, Normandy, Beverly Hills, and Pine Lawn Police. All these jurisdiction will ticket you. Be Careful!
