The city can't afford city workers so they pull people over and assign them community service projects. They also get most of there revenue from traffic tickets.

Comment (5/2003): If you know the speed limit why dont you try doing it? Maybe these officers will handle a fatal accident involving your family one day because of speed.

Comment (5/2003): I travel through Byrnes Mill nearly every day. I have a radar detector (pasport 8500) and detect radar nearly 90% of the time. It's how they make their money. The speed goes from 55mph to 35mph and they are a waitin'. I like the persons comment "if you know the speed limit why don't you do it." The person in your family that's going to be in a fatal accident is the one rear-ending the guy who all of a sudden comes into this speed trap unaware and then sees a cop. Don't worry. There are Jefferson County police as well as State patrol right there in the same 2 mile area. I speed out of shear spite when I don't detect radar! Hey, speed on down this way if you have the nerve.

Comment (10/2003): this city is not a speed trap. and too the person that says that he/she drives with a radar dector , they dont work. and as well most byrnes mill cops dont use radar they look for other violations, in no way should anyone be driving more tahn 60 there if they are than they deserve a ticket

Comment (7/2003): Well I have been to one of their monthy city meeting. I have discovered they do have several city workers. They city also is no where near the state mandated 48% revenue from traffic enforcement. The city only recieves about 22% from traffic enforcement. I allso found out the because of Byrnes Mill 14 man Police Department and strick traffic enforcement that they have the safest secion of Hwy 30 according to the missouri State Highway Patrol. I dont like getting a ticket but at least I might have a change of getting home better. I also found out that the cops get paid just over 10.00 an hour with basicly no benifits.

Comment (7/2003): What do you call a speed trap? Check your facts before you make a false statement. Does speed trap mean the police are doing thier job? This area of Hwy 30 has a 60MPH speed limit, How fast should you be driving? If you know it is a "Speed Trap" Drive the speed limit!

Comment (11/2003): It is amazing how many idiots purchase radar detectors & depend on them. With technology we have today Radar guns are like a real gun pull the trigger and your had. It only puts out a beam for a 100th of a second. So If you can slow your car down let alone if your detector can detect a Police Officer with his Radar off then you have a million dollar product if not then you must only like supporting their tax base by buying radar units, and if Byrnes Mill does not have a Walmart, Target, or Sams well you supported someones tax base by buying the radar detector. So why dont you just get take the bus since you cant Drive the speed limit.

Comment (1/2004): "So why dont you just get take the bus since you cant Drive the speed limit."There aren't any busses running anywhere near Byrnes Mill. They stop at Fenton. Don't make stupid remarks about something you know nothing about.

Comment (3/2004): Sorry to inform you, however Byrnes Mill Does have a City Public Works Dep. The employees like the job and are good at keeping the city clean. As for the Police Dept. They give a MUCH larger margin of error than the Missouri State Highway Patrol to the violators.

Comment (3/2004): Obviously the information provided to you was incorrect. The City of Byrnes Mill, Missouri does in fact have city workers, isn't dependent upon operating revenue from citations issued and doesn't assign people community service projects. Individuals if found guilty or plead guilty in municipal court are either placed on probation, receive a suspended imposition of sentence or pay a fine.

Comment (8/2004): I lived in High Ridge for eight years and travelled this section of highway quite a bit. I will say that you see the po-lice more often in this area than most on MO-30 and they will pull you over if you are speeding even a little bit. That said, they (the city cops) are not really that bad although they will take pleasure in enforcing the law if you give them the opportunity. If you want to drive real fast in this part of Missouri, use I-44. It's safer than MO-30 (no lights) and it's not uncommon to see 80-90 MPH during rush hour (but don't tell the highway patrol, heh, heh)...

Comment (8/2004): Oh -- and if you have in-state plates and a proper accent, you might save a few bucks by correctly pronouncing the town's name as "Bernie's Mill".

When turning from Hwy. 30 onto Hwy. W in Byrnes Mill, the speed limit is 35 m.p.h. until the bridge and then it is 55 m.p.h. this is unrealistic, but you will get a ticket even if you stop fast to avoid hitting a dog, because the officer will think you saw him.

Byrnes Mill already has a listing at State Hwy. W, but be forewarned that the entire city is nothing but a speed trap. You can find them all along highway 30 from Gravois Rd. to State Hwy. W just about anytime of day or night. The police department also happens to overlook Hwy. 30. BE VERY CAREFUL ! Posted speed limit is 65 and you will be cited for ANYTHING over.
