Flowood police cruisers are always traveling back and forth along that stretch of Highway 25 to "pace" the traffic. This causes all three lanes, coming and going, to crawl along at a snail's pace during peak driving times. It is not uncommon for all of the traffic to be crawling at 30mph in a 55mph zone.

Comment (2/2003): It really bothers me when i see people doing 60+ in a 55 zone on Lakeland Drive, seems that the people down south would rather have an accident then to obey the speed limit

Comment (3/2003): If you were a "people down south" you might could make such a statement, but apparently you aren't or you would know that "people down south" do care more about doing the speed limit than having an accident. I am from here and have lived here most of my life.

Comment (6/2003): People routinely drive 65-70 mph on this heavily traveled road. It's a good thing police work Lakeland Drive heavily, or there are some who would drive 75-80. Some folks just have NO common sense.

Comment (6/2003): Put your phones down and pay attention to the speed limit signs, and be thankful we have patrolmen visible to slow down the excessive speeders, before an accident slows traffic to an even slower pace.

Comment (9/2003): The speed limits are definitley set below the reasonable driving speed so that this little town can collect as much revenue as possible. I've never seen such a tiny town with no drivers on the road at night with as many police stalking this road and the back roads attached to it. They also look hard to set DUI traps. Fortunately, this dry county town is so pathetic, there are no real bars to visit so that DUI is not a problem.

Comment (5/2004): The Flowood Police do a very good job at slowing traffic down. They also keep the bad guys out of Rankin County by heavy enforcement

Comment (6/2004): Give me a break. The "Flo-po" are notorious for patrolling/having a speed trap at the oddest (read: OFF PEAK) hours of the day. 55 is a bit slow for such a large road, and most people that speed, do so at a comfortable speeding rate, such as 60-65. When there is very little traffic on the road, that is somewhat reasonable. Weaving in and out of heavy HEAVY traffic and speeding is one thing, but speeding when there isn't a soul on the road is reasonable in my opinion.

Flowood Police will sit in the median at the U-turn sections. They use K-band and circa 70's X-band, so if you get a constant(full)tone on X slow down because it is 95%radar, same with K.

Police hide behind at the ends of the Pearl River Bride rails (left and right side) trapping motorist traveling east into Flowood. The highway is 3 lanes wide (6 total) and drivers have a natural tendency to drive 60 to 65 mile per hour, but the speed limit is only 50 MPH. It is a well known and talked about speed trap.
