This is one of THOSE towns. The limit as Highway 310 passes through Fromberg is 45 mph. The town clown (justification provided below) generally sits in the business parking areas on the west side of the highway. Both directions are vulnerable. He also sometimes sets up on the east side of the highway on the OTHER side of the railroad tracks. Also, this guy will work late nights and weekends. I have been lit up at 2:00 am on a Sunday morning. Believe it or not, my wife was driving through town while on vacation from Arizona. She was pulled over for not having a front license plate. She explained that AZ does not issue front plates. The officer then asks "Why?" She replies, "because the law does not require them." The officer was perturbed (and confused) and ran checks for 20 minutes before giving her with a warning for not having a front plate. She asked, "so what do I do with this...find a front plate??" He replies, "No, just hang on to it...Arizona does not require a front plate." Talk about being a few rounds short of a full magazine.
Comment (11/2004): I live in the area and can attest to the fact that there can be tight enforcement there. Haven't seen him around lately though. Don't know what the status is now.
Comment (4/2005): Not only that but, while traveling at the legal 70mph on the highway, the first sign you see of reduced speed ahead is exactly 1.5 10ths of a mile before the 45mph sign.If the "Town Constable" doesn't get you, the guy who does brake jobs there probably will after you try and get from 70mph to 45mph in less that 1 10th of a mile. What a bunch of crooks.

Look out for the afternoons when they put the plane in the air. They fly at lest once a week. They will write you for 3 over every time.
