I-85 in Cabarrus county is heavily patrolled by the North Carolina Highway Patrol's I-Team or otherwise known as the interstate team. There are two marked camaro's and a marked (slick top) car patrolling this section of interstate. Be aware exit 63 southbound is heavily patrolled.
Comment (3/2005): BE VERY VERY Careful in that area. I was harrassed and physically abused by a SHP and a Local Policeman for "speeding" at 56 mph in a 55 zone! Unmarked cars stopped me. I was cussed, slapped, and threatened. They actually handcuffed me while calling in my driver's license. Cabarras County seems to have some officers with very bad attitudes, and are very tough on some people (and maybe certain vehicles). I'm a white male (so it was not racial) and was driving a 2 door honda accord (so it is not a "racey sports car"). I would just say be very careful. A smart attorney got me out of that situation, thankfully, and he warned me that a lot of the Cabarras officers were like that.
Comment (4/2005): well..you didn't get stopped on i-85 in cabarrus co because the speed limit is 65 not 55!
Comment (5/2005): WOW! the second comment is correct. No 55 mph Zonein Cabarrus County on I-85. Second, no one, but no one gets stopped for 56 in 55 in NC. I ought know. 30 year retired trooper. And I worked 85 in Cabarrus for 26 years. Plus, we don't have any "slick" lawyers here, duh!
Comment (5/2005): Agreed about the Camaro's.. see them just about every morning going to work.
Comment (11/2005): I live neat exit 63 and there seems to be a car sitting there a least every other day and they also sit and exit 60 alot
