North Carolina Highway Patrol patrols this strech of road at all times. Sometimes with one car,(marked and unmarked) and sometimes with two to three cars. One car will drive one way and when the motorists see it pass, then the hammer is put down only to be caught by his buddy up the road. Also when you leave the Murphy area, and are heading for the TN's stateline that long strech of road is patroled heavy during the day, but hardly at night.
