Highway is long and straight with two lanes in each direction with wide, open space between the two. Law enforcement will target oncoming traffic with radar (type unknown) and will ticket for 5 mph over limit. Limit was 55 last time I checked.

Comment (2/2004): I29has a 75 mph speed limit, even past all the exits to the city. Fargo makes you slow down while passing thru the city. Enforcement of the speed is heavy. Most county paved roads are posted at 65 mph. Speed traps are common and I assume airplanes are still used. They would use 156.030 Mhz to communicate to the ground. I only speed on gravel roads now.

Comment (1/2005): Speed Limit is 65 for most of this roadway, plustickets are NOT written until 11 MPH over limit. I happen to know because I wrote the tickets for many years while a member of the NDHP. 1-22-2005

Comment (4/2005): Got a ticket for 12 over on the way back from the Grand forks airport directly in the middle of the speed trap with LASER according to my passport 8500. 12 over in the 55 zone at 1130 at night. Cost me 12 dollars.

Comment (4/2005): Cop is always waiting in the median when I head out to the airport everyday from Grand Forks for my flight training. But I have a radar/laser detector, so I always catch it before I see him. He is not there that often anymore though - mainly when the weather gets warmer.
